Centering the Center
The performance was titled ‘Centering the Center’, a transdisciplinary collaboration with Joyce Teo (Associate Dean, School of Arts Management, NAFA), Caren Carino (Dean, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Practices, NAFA), Guo Xingyue (Experimenter, School of Innovation Design, Shenzhen Technology University), and Li Xiaomin (Lecturer, School of Innovation Design, Shenzhen Technology University).
Centering the Center is a performance exploring the cybernetic human body, challenging boundaries of technology, culture, and identity, and transforming our understanding of the post-humanist age.
The first part of the performance invites the audience to delve into the intricate challenges of machine and human empathy, profoundly impacting the human psyche. This impact fosters an understanding of the interconnectedness between humans and machines and prompts reflection on the blurred boundaries between human consciousness and artificial intelligence.
In the second part of the performance, the movement animates the Chakra-inspired soundscape. The sensory experience sometimes extends and, at other times, disrupts the human connection
