எப்பொழுது ( Eppoḻutu)

The word “எப்பொழுது” (Eppolutu) translates to “When” in English. “எப்பொழுது” (Eppolutu) is a re-interpretation of the original performance titled “Walking without Boundaries,” which was not permitted to be performed at the Singapore Biennale 2016. The work delves into the historical context of Indian convicts being transported to Singapore as laborers during British occupation. Despite their significant contributions, their role remains unrecognized in our national narrative today.

My inquiry regarding the banning of the performance is not “why” but “when.” In other words, I am questioning when I will be allowed to perform the work again. Therefore, I have taken a blood oath to mark my body as a calendar, counting each day until the day I am permitted to perform the work once more.

It has been 2725 days 6 hours 49 minutes 27 seconds as today. I am still waiting for when can I perform “Unwalked Boundaries”.
